The government provides a special grant to schools to ensure that good provision is made for children who might be socially disadvantaged. An allocation of funding has been given to
· every child who is entitled to Free School Meals,
· every child who is ‘looked after’ by the Local Authority
· every child who has a parent in the armed forces.
This grant is known as the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG). Schools must use the PPG funding to narrow any gaps in attainment between these children and their peers. Schools must ensure that these children are making good progress and be spending the money on measures to bring this about if good progress is not already apparent.
At Bowerhill Primary School, we have focused most of our grant our on additional teachers to work alongside classroom teachers. We identify the specific teaching which would benefit each child eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant and use the extra teachers to ensure these programmes are followed. This may involve children working in a small group or individually, outside or inside, the classroom, on parallel work or on catch-up activities.
Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
