At Bowerhill Primary School our vision is to enable ALL children to EXPERIENCE SUCCESS through BUILDING ASPIRATIONwithin them. Equally as important, to BUILD ASPIRATION through the SUCCESSthey EXPERIENCE… we want all children to experience just how far they can fly! We will do this through all the opportunities and curriculum we provide them with, the relationships we foster and through offering a safe and securing, caring environment to learn.
By SUCCESS and ASPIRATION we mean:
The aims outlined above incorporate and reflect the British values of tolerance, fairness, respect for other faiths, respect for rules, and the role of democracy in society.
Our school council will play a key role in promoting these values, alongside our PSHE and RE teaching which form a major part of social, moral, spiritual, and cultural education.
The government defines British values as:
At Bowerhill Primary School, we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. We have found this approach to be enriching for all parties as it teaches understanding, respect and empathy for the differences in our community and the wider world. Underpinning all of this is a range of curriculum topics that have strong links to the British Empire. We actively challenge children, staff, and parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British values, including ‘extremist’ views.
As part of The White Horse Federation, we passionately believe that by working together, the children are able to have a higher quality of education, and that as colleagues, we will also benefit from and reap the rewards of a values-based organisation where no one is left behind.
At the heart of The White Horse Federation is a belief in using collaboration to provide a first-class education to a wide range of children. This means that every child understands what they are capable of, and can collectively strive for excellence.
