Summer term 2021- What are we doing this term?
Our Learning Challenge Topic this term is, 'Are pirates real?' We shall be finding out about treasure maps, pirate ships, jolly rogers and some famous pirates.
In our Maths work we will be working on practical addition, subtraction, halving and doubling and introducing number bonds to 10.
We will be exploring a range of different stories and nonfiction books including Pirate Pete, Plundering Pirates, Shiver me letters and the Night Pirates. The children are getting very good at writing their own sentences and we will be encouraging them to use a capital letter and full stop as well as finger spaces and the phonics they know.
We continue to revise all the sounds and tricky words taught so far and are introducing phase 4 which involves consonant clusters and some new tricky words: like, said, so, some, have, come, do, when, one, little, were, what, out, there.
In our Physical Development we are focusing on movement and dance as well as preparing for sports day with lots of team games. We continue to develop fine motor skills and handwriting, using squiggle while you wiggle and daily handwriting lessons.
The children will need to wear their outdoor PE kits to school on PE Days. PE lessons for both classes will be on Thursdays.

Please support your child in learning to recognise all sounds and tricky words we have taught so far and help them to read new words being sent home daily.
Thank you for your support in helping your child to read, please continue to read at least 5 times a week and record this in their reading diary. We will only change their book if they have read it on 3 separate days.
