Our Learning Challenge Topic question this term is: 'What makes me marvellous?'

This will provide us with an opportunity to get to know your child and help them to settle into school. The topic will cover learning about the children's interests, their families and their friends. It will progress to learning about keeping healthy and learning about our bodies. We have booked a visit from The Explorer Dome (an inflatable planetarium) for later in the term. There will be more information to follow.

Dates for your diary

  • Wednesday 24th October - Teacher Development Day (school closed)
  • Wednesday 7th November - parents evening 3.30-6.00
  • Thursday 8th November - parents evening 5.30-8.00

Wow! Doesn't time fly when your having fun! We are three weeks in and all the children have settled well into life at school. They have done really well at becoming independent at coming into school, organising themselves and remembering the routines! Well done everybody!

Any tears we had at the beginning (and there was very few!) have disappeared and they know can't wait to come in and get the day started.

Book bag boxes and a reading diary box with continue to be at the front of the classroom at the beginning of everyday and it's great to see all the children have all learnt which colour group they are and automatically pop their bag away at the beginning of the day!

Homework will be sent home on Fridays and this should be completed and handed in on the following Wednesday.

The children are about to start their daily Read Write Inc (RWI) phonics sessions. They will bring home a sound sheet daily to share the sounds they have been learning with you. When they bring home these sheets please practice the sounds with your child, this helps to reinforce their learning and allows them to share their success with you.

As was shared with you at the RWI meeting, we value reading and children's enjoyment in books highly, so please continue to read and share books with your child at home and this can now be recorded into their reading diary. All reading counts, the children don't have reading books yet, so sharing a bedtime story every night or looking at and sharing books with all family members can all be logged.
