This term our Learning Challenge is “What is transport”
We shall be exploring these questions over the term:
- What vehicles can you see?
- What did Great- Granddad’s car look like?
- How have cars changed?
- Can we travel without wheels?
- What kind of transport can help us?
If you or someone you knows has an interesting vehicle that we could look at in school then please get in touch. So far we are looking forwards to visits from a Motorcross bike, fire engine, truck, ambulance, blood donor bike and hopefully a police car. Keep your eye on these pages and Tapestry (https://tapestryjournal.com/ or the Tapestry app) for updates and photos.
An important part of learning to enjoy reading is sharing a book with a special grown up. Please ensure you read stories and rhymes with your child on a daily basis to foster a love of reading. Make sure you remember to record all reading (including you reading to them, phonics sheets and them reading) in their reading diary. Your child may come home with a Read Write Inc book that they will have read at school. They will be very keen to share with you at home. Please listen to them read their book and use the questions at the back of the book to further their understanding.
This term our focus in maths is on numbers 11 – 20. Please help your child to recognise all numbers to 20 and support them in counting objects, forming and orienting the numbers correctly. When they are ready they could also have a go at simple, practical addition and subtraction.
Please continue to make sure all clothing is clearly named including PE kits. This term we will be doing two indoor PE sessions a week so the children only need their colour T-shirt and a pair of shorts, please keep them in school all week.
