Welcome to Willow Class
We are looking forward to an extremely successful and enjoyable year.
This term our Learning Challenge Question is 'How would WW2 have affected you?' This is a History based topic where children will have the opportunity to explore, discuss and reflect on what life was like during this time.
We have started the term by looking at how and why the war started, as well as what life was like for evacuees. The children pretended they were an evacuee and wrote a letter home to their parents about their experience.
PE is on Wednesday (indoor) and Friday (outdoor). Please ensure that appropriate PE kit is in school on those days (remember to provide tape for any earrings that can't be removed). Correct outdoor footwear is essential for outdoor P.E. sessions and warm layers - we go out in all weathers!
Homework consists of reading and logging in their reading diary, spellings and tasks linked to our work within class. Reading will be checked every day and homework should be in the box in class by Tuesday. Homework will go out on a Thursday.
Times Tables are on Thursday each week, please practise your times tables regularly.
Every other week, spellings will be come home on a Wednesday and be tested on the following Monday. Children will choose 6 words from our units to log in their Log Book and bring home to learn.
This will alternate with a sheet that will have up to 12 spellings which will help children to practise their high frequency words.

As always, we would welcome any parent support - in whatever capacity you are able to offer it. Please let us know if this is something you would like to do.
