  • What animals are in Percy’s Park and why some hibernate?
  • Can I see what happens in Autumn?
  • Can you create your own music which captures different seasons?
  • Does the sun shine more in Autumn than Winter?
  • Why are so many of the things you enjoy doing dependent on the time of year and the weather?

P.E.

Indoor PE is a Wednesday and Outdoor PE is a Tuesday. Outdoor PE will happen every week and Indoor PE will happen every other week.

Children are expected to come into school dressed in their PE clothing. We suggest that as the weather gets colder, that they wear a hoodie/jumper and jogging bottoms. Always make sure they bring a coat too; they’re needed for break and lunch times as well as for PE days. Please ensure all clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Homework

The expectations for homework in Year 1 is:

  • Reading at home every night and recording this in their reading diary.
  • Practising their spelling of common exception words (tricky words).
  • Maths – please practise the Maths skills we are learning, such as ordering numbers to 30, recognising and writing numbers, counting forwards and back, as well as 1 more and 1 less. You can also use Numbots, which is an online Maths game for children to practise their number bonds in a fun and interactive way.
