This terms Learning Challenge Questions is:

'Why is the Amazon Rainforest Important?'

We will be learning about the country Brazil, where it is and important landmarks and traditions they have there. We will also be finding out about the different layers of the Rainforest, the different animals and types of plants and what is happening to the rainforest today. In term 4 we will be having a Rio themed carnival day where we will make music instruments and headdresses to reenact our own carnival.

Our questions include:

  • Where in the world is Brazil?
  • What does Brazil's flag look like?
  • What is a Rainforest?
  • How tall are the Amazon's rainforest trees?
  • Which animals live in the Rainforest?
  • Who else lives in the rainforest?
  • Which plants grow in the rainforest?
  • How is chocolate made?
  • What does the carnival celebrate?

PE days are Wednesday (outdoor PE) and Friday (indoor PE). Children are to arrive at school wearing their PE kit for the day. Please make sure all PE kit is labelled with your child's name. We will be going outside as much as possible so please ensure this is suitable for all weathers.

Reading - Children are expected to read their reading book 5 times a week. They can also read other books from home. This should be recorded in their reading diaries by an adult, not the child. The reading books are changed on a Monday each week. Once the children have read 20 times, they receive a prize from Miss Skates!

Spelling - Spellings are sent home on a Monday and the children have a week to learn them. They will be tested on the Friday.
