We believe that all pupils at Bowerhill School should have an equal opportunity to benefit from school activities, including educational visits and visiting providers (curricular and extracurricular), irrespective of their parents’ financial means. Our charging and remissions policy describes how we will do our best to ensure a good range of visits and activities is offered and, at the same time, try to minimise the financial barriers which may prevent some pupils taking full advantage of the opportunities.

At Bowerhill Primary School, we offer lots of first-hand experiences for pupils, from early years classes right through to year 6, with visits and visitors supporting work across the curriculum in all year groups. Children in years 4 and 6 also usually have residential visits.

The year 4 residential course is based at Braeside Education Centre, based in Devizes. This is a three day (two-night) residential course that will help to prepare the children for the longer Plas Pencelli trip in year 6. The children learn team building skills as well as having a chance to push themselves with high ropes or the leap of faith amongst other activities. Plas Pencelli is an outdoor education centre based in the Brecon Beacons. This residential course builds on the skills learned during the visit in year 4. The children learn an enormous amount, not just about adventurous activities such as caving, climbing, abseiling, and canoeing, but also about themselves as a person and about working as part of a team.
